We've all bought kitchen gadgets that promised the world and ended up in the back of a drawer. Here are 7 kitchen gadgets that actually earn their spot on your counter — tested, used, and genuinely worth the money.
1. Slush Cup — Instant Slushy Maker
Price: £10.99 (was £34.99)
The Slush Cup turns any drink into a slushy in 3 seconds. Pour in soda, juice, iced coffee — anything — and it freezes instantly. No blender, no ice, no machine.
How it works: The cup's inner lining contains a special freezing agent. You freeze the cup overnight, then pour your drink in and watch it transform. It's not magic, it's thermodynamics.
Best for: Summer drinks, kids treats, cocktail parties, and anyone who loves a slushy but hates washing a blender.
Our verdict: 10/10. We use ours daily. The slushy texture is better than most shop-bought slushies, and cleanup is just a rinse.
2. LCD Digital Kitchen Scale Spoon
Price: £7.99 (was £12.99)
This is a spoon and a kitchen scale in one. The LCD display shows the exact weight of what you're scooping in real time. No more dirtying a separate scale — just scoop and read.
Best for: Baking (where precision matters), coffee dosing, protein powder, pet food portions, and anyone following a recipe that demands accuracy.
Our verdict: 9/10. The display is clear and the accuracy is spot-on. We use it most for coffee — 18g every morning, perfectly consistent.
3. Mini Heat Sealer
Price: £6.99 (was £9.99)
This handheld device seals any plastic bag in seconds. Run it along the top of an open crisps bag, frozen vegetables, or snacks, and it creates an airtight seal. No more clips that fall off, no more stale food.
Best for: Reducing food waste, keeping snacks fresh, freezing leftovers, and bulk-buying enthusiasts.
Our verdict: 8/10. At £6.99, this paid for itself in the first week. The seal is genuinely airtight — we tested it with a bag of crisps for 2 weeks and they stayed crunchy.
4. 360° Faucet Extender
Price: £9.99 (was £19.99)
This chrome attachment fits onto your existing faucet and swivels 360 degrees, letting you direct water exactly where you need it. No more splashing when you're trying to rinse the corners of the sink.
Best for: Large sinks, deep pots, and anyone tired of water going everywhere except where they want it.
Our verdict: 7/10. It's not flashy, but it's one of those small upgrades you notice every single day. Installation took 20 seconds.
5. Telescopic Sink Rack
Price: £12.99 (was £21.99)
This sliding rack adjusts to fit any sink width and gives you a tidy spot for sponges, brushes, and soap. It keeps everything off the counter and lets water drain straight into the sink.
Best for: Small kitchens, anyone who hates a messy sink area, and people who want their cleaning supplies organized but accessible.
Our verdict: 8/10. Simple, effective, and it actually stays put. The telescopic design means it fits every sink we've tried it on.
6. Odour Removing Steel Soap
Price: £7.99 (was £14.99)
Rub this stainless steel bar under running water and garlic, onion, and fish odours disappear from your hands. It sounds impossible, but it works. The steel reacts with the sulphur compounds in garlic and onion, neutralizing the smell at a molecular level.
Best for: Anyone who cooks with garlic, onion, or fish regularly and hates the lingering smell.
Our verdict: 9/10. We were skeptical, but it genuinely works. After cooking a garlic-heavy curry, we rubbed the steel soap under water for 20 seconds and the smell was completely gone. It never runs out and never needs replacing.
7. Slush Cup + Mini Heat Sealer Combo: The £18 Kitchen Upgrade
If you only buy two things from this list, get the Slush Cup and the Mini Heat Sealer. Together they cost £17.98 and cover the two biggest kitchen frustrations: stale food and boring drinks. One keeps your food fresh, one makes every drink fun. That's your kitchen upgraded for under £18.
How We Tested
Every product on this list was used in our kitchen for at least 2 weeks. We judged each on: ease of use, whether it solved a real problem, durability, and value for money. Products that didn't earn their spot were removed — this list only includes gadgets that genuinely improved our daily routine.
